Your languages, your story, your community, your angle of vision —
these are not obstacles to academic writing.
They are intellectual assets.
Tap each one to claim it as yours.
This sentence is yours. It will be saved as part of your process report — a reminder that you arrived with knowledge before any institution gave you permission to write.
Before you meet your coach · Antes de comenzar 3 min
Tu Pana helps you think and revise — but it has not lived your life.
The coach can produce writing that sounds smooth, confident, and completely wrong for your essay. It may miss what you know from your community, your family, or your culture. That is not a failure in you — it is a limitation of the tool.
In the next 3 minutes you'll practice the Five Questions — your critical lens for every piece of feedback. This happens once. Las Cinco Preguntas. Toma 3 minutos. Solo una vez.
A student asked Tu Pana to help revise their paragraph about growing up in a bilingual home. This is what the AI produced. Read it carefully before you evaluate it.
Now you'll apply the Five Questions to this paragraph. There are no trick questions — this is practice, not a test.
Tap your honest assessment of the AI paragraph for each question. You'll see the reasoning after each choice.
The phrase "well-documented in sociological literature" sounds authoritative but cites nothing. AI routinely produces confident-sounding claims without real sources. Before using any historical or academic statement in your essay, find and read the actual source yourself.
Your coach will never invent citations — but always ask: where does this come from?
Phrases like "shaped my cultural identity" could describe anyone. Where is the specific phrase someone in the family said? The word in Spanish that doesn't translate? The exact moment the student felt the difference between the two worlds?
AI smooths writing — and in smoothing it, often erases the details that make it true and powerful. Tu voz importa. Protect it.
The paragraph tells us about a bilingual upbringing but never shows it. A strong essay might open with a kitchen table, a word a grandmother used, the first day of school in a new language.
Specificity is not decoration — it is the argument. General claims ask readers to believe you. Specific details make them see.
The paragraph mentions "assimilation and cultural preservation" — but it doesn't explain how or why in a way that reveals new understanding.
The mixed-genre essay asks you to show what your specific story reveals about the larger pattern. That move — from my experience to what my experience helps explain — is the thinking the essay requires.
Phrases like "shaped my cultural identity" treat culture as a concept, not as lived knowledge. The student knows specific things: a recipe, a word that has no translation, a ritual, a sound from childhood. AI cannot know these.
When it generalizes, it erases the very knowledge that makes the essay powerful. Tu conocimiento comunitario es evidencia. Do not let the coach replace it with abstractions.
Whenever your coach gives you feedback, pause before acting on it. Run each question. Your judgment overrides the coach's suggestion — every time.
After every coach response in the revision stages, a quick eval card will appear so you can apply these five questions in real time. Tu coach no ha vivido tu vida. Lo que sabes tú importa.
Tu primer borrador queda protegido al guardar — sigues revisando después.
Your first draft is protected when saved — you keep revising afterward.
This is a checkpoint, not a final version. Your words stay yours.
Tus palabras siguen siendo tuyas.
You wrote this without help. That matters.
Escribiste esto sin ayuda. Eso tiene valor.
Revision does not erase your voice — it helps the reader hear it more clearly. When your coach offers a suggestion, you decide what to keep, what to change, and what to ignore.
Tu borrador guardado queda protegido y no cambia solo. · Next: the coach can now help you revise. Your saved draft stays protected and never changes on its own.
